Lindsay Madison is a plain language editor, readability consultant, and plain language instructor at Transcend in Davis, California. She has drafted over 200 plain language legal documents for print and web for state courts and legal aid agencies in California, Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, and New York. Lindsay has also conducted intensive trainings in plain language and readability for legal professionals in New York, California and Washington. In 2010, Lindsay co-authored a series of online plain language lessons in collaboration with LawNY, and was a contributing author of the 2010 edition of Readability, Transcend’s plain language guide. Lindsay is currently working with the Washington State Superior Courts to convert Washington’s highest-use family law court forms into plain language.
